Perspective

Only  One!!

This week we were blessed to have Pastor Kenneth with us to share what the Lord had put on his heart. I quickly want to touch on what he had said and you can go listen to the whole message if you would like.

In Genesis 11 we are told a story of how men had come together to build the great city of Babylon and that they wanted to build such a marvelous tower that it would reach to the heavens. God saw this and put an end to it by confusing their languages and they could no longer build. There was a great division. The Lord said this:
"“Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.'"
They had become too powerful together with one language. They were prideful, boastful, and they were all unified in this task. So God came to put a stop to it.

On the contrary, in Acts 2 we see a unified people coming together and being brought together by the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2, tongues of fire came and rested on the disciples and every person could hear them speaking in their own languages. Here, many tongues are being spoken, but instead of division, they are being unified. WHY?? Because the disciples knew only one language now, and that is found in the name of Jesus. They were together in the upper room because they knew Jesus. They were there together in one accord because of Jesus. Its because Jesus had promised them His Holy Spirit, because Jesus told them to go to Jerusalem and wait. It is because Jesus died on the cross and said he would not leave them as orphans. Its because Jesus rose again from the grave and revealed himself to them.

Now imagine if we were united by Jesus, not culture or politics. The best part is we are invited to do this. I can only get excited to imagine what could happen if we all spoke the same language of Jesus, and were united in our hearts for the purpose of Jesus. Imagine if we were ONE.

"'Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are.'"- Jesus Christ  (John 17:11; NASB)
